La subregión de Valles Interandinos es una franja territorial que comienza en el límite internacional con Perú y termina en el límite internacional con Argentina. En general es una zona altamente poblada, tanto a nivel urbano como rural, y se caracteriza por contener a naciones y pueblos indígena originario campesinos quechuas y aymaras. Por su topografía accidentada y la existencia de varios nichos de pequeñas tierras agrícolas, el territorio valluno está altamente fragmentado.
Esto se refleja en el mapa al observar la existencia de muchos TIOC titulados pero generalmente de pequeña extensión, con algunas excepciones como Ayopaya.
Existen 101 TIOC titulados que en conjunto tienen una extensión de 2.2 millones de hectáreas equivalentes al 10% del total nacional de TIOC titulados. La mayoría está ubicada en el valle potosino y una veintena en Oruro. Los otros departamentos tienen menor participación según el cuadro 4.
c) Titulares de los TIOC
Al igual que en el altiplano, la organización matriz a la que los TIOC de esta subregión están afiliados es el CONAMAQ. Asimismo, dos TIOC pertenecen al CONSAQ, como entidad diferenciada de las otras organizaciones. Los territorios de Ayopaya y Raqaypampa están afiliados a la CSUTCB.
La población contemplada dentro de los 101 TIOC alcanza a260,572 personas, que representa el 49.1% del total de población en TIOC titulados del país.
d) Los TIOC de mayor y menor extensión
Los tres TIOC más extensos de esta subregión son el Territorio Originario de Ayopaya (530,634 hectáreas); el Territorio Jatun Kellaja, LLajta Yucusa Cantu Yucasa y Asansanajaqui (93,030 hectáreas); y Jatun Ayllu de Toropalca (138,600 hectáreas). Por otro lado los TIOC más pequeños son el Territorio del Ayllu Saca Saca (237 hectáreas), el territorio del Ayllu Chira (539 hectáreas) y el Territorio del Ayllu Mallcoca (567 hectáreas).
El TIOC Ayopaya sobresale por su población, que alcanza a 60,939 personas, siendo no sólo el más poblado de los Valles Interandinos sino de todos los TIOC titulados del país.
e) Observaciones y advertencias
Al igual que en la subregión Altiplano, por una cuestión de escala, algunos territorios indígenas no son del todo visibles en el mapa.
